Map Review: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Freytag & Berndt, ****

Explore Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia with this Freytag&Berndt road map. The best way to plan your trip, prepare your itinerary, and to travel independently in this part of Southeast Asia.

One side shows North Vietnam (from Da Nâng to the Chinese border) and Laos, the other side shows Cambodia, South Vietnam (from Saigon to Da Nâng) and the southern part of Laos (region of Pakse). Both sides shows the eastern part of Thailand, including Bangkok region.

Touristic information: coral reefs, national parks, botanical gardens, places of interest, archaeological sites, ports, airports, beaches, diving, caves, waterfalls, lighthouses, monuments, towers, viewpoints, monasteries, castles, gardens, temples, Buddhist pagodas, UNESCO World Heritage.

The legend is in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian.

This is a great map of all of Indochina, easy to read and very detailed for 1:1,000,000. Its format may not be the most practical to carry around during the day, because the paper is not the sturdiest possible. But it is ideal for planning purposes before starting a trip. It might come in handy in the evening to plan the next day's drive. This is not a trekking map even though some info is provided on natural parks.

There is also an index that helps, but again not easy to use if you have to unfold the map while standing/moving or without a large table at your disposal.
